Historic estate near Edinburgh will become Hyatt’s first UK hotel destination

Hyatt entered into a franchise agreement with 12.18. The group will launch the Destination by Hyatt brand in Scotland, as well as in the United Kingdom.

Located an hour’s drive from Edinburgh and Newcastle airports, Schloss Roxburghe Hotel & Golf Course has a rich history dating back to the 12th century and was once owned by the Duke of Roxburghe.

The charming historic estate and sprawling stately grounds will be fully transformed into a luxury retreat with 58 rooms and suites, as well as 12 cottages, added to the property’s existing accommodation options by the end of 2022. The opening of 49 additional cottages is planned by 2024.

The desire to travel in the luxury segment remains unwavering, and this project is set to meet the needs of luxury travelers, both international and local, in one of the most exquisite locations in the country.

Guests will find fire-lit lounges and bars decorated in the original Duke of Roxburghe tartan, contrasting with contemporary finishes such as stone and wood textures and natural color palettes.

The estate’s luxurious rooms and suites will be spread across three areas: the historic main house with 20 individual rooms and suites, the estate house with 58 rooms and suites, and 61 cottages that overlook the estate’s lush gardens, each to be equipped with a personal kitchen. , comfortable living areas and secluded patios.

The Schloss Roxburghe Hotel & Golf Course will feature two restaurants, three bars and two lounges which will feature local, local and seasonal Scottish produce.

A 6,458-square-foot (600 m²) spa with two saunas and an outdoor infinity pool will join the estate’s existing amenities, including a purpose-built banquet suite. There will also be four meeting spaces with up to 1,689 square feet (157 m²) of space.

The property will offer a wide range of sports and leisure activities. Country walks in archery, tomahawk throwing and skeet shooting, plus angling in the Teviot River, and of course, golf on the championship golf course of the property.
