SailGP France will take place this weekend in St Tropez and the teams will continue to fight in the high performance series. Find out how to follow the action

The world series of foiling catamarans, SailGP returns this weekend with the nine teams taking to the water from St Tropez, France, for the fifth event of the 2021 season.

Having won each of the last two SailGP events – in Plymouth and Denmark respectively – Tom Slingsby’s Australian team are currently leading the season’s championship, two points ahead of the British (skipper by Sir Ben Ainslie) with Japan’s Nathan Outteridge three more behind.

Slingsby is a man on a mission right now, as the Australian returns to SailGP this weekend after a second straight International Butterfly World Championship title in Malcezine, Italy last week.

“Obviously we come out of a summit by winning the last two events, but we know that kind of summit won’t last forever,” Slingsby said at the France Sail Grand Prix press conference. “We will soon be beaten.

“But the team has very good energy right now and we are sailing with confidence, and I am really proud as the skipper and CEO of the team that we are sailing so well.

“But for sure Nathan is licking his lips at the forecast of light winds and is very happy with it, but anyone can win – it’s clear to see.

“We’ve had issues with light winds in the past, but we’re fixing them and we’ve been pretty strong in the last two events. “

SailGP France will take place from September 11 to 12, 2021.

Coverage for Saturday September 11 will be from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. CEST
Sunday September 12 coverage will be from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. CEST
