Make-up artist Sofia Tilbury shares her guide to Ibiza
Sofia Tilbury, yes you guessed it, is part of the Tilbury makeup dynasty and is known for delivering the most sultry looks to celebrities and the fashion crowd. Having grown up between Ibiza and London, who better then, to share his guide to the White Island.
From partying to places of relaxation, here are the best hot spots on the island that will offer the quintessential Ibiza sensations.
To stay: Six Sens Ibiza
Six Senses Ibiza is a hotel that just opened this summer in Xarraca Bay, which sits in the beautiful, secluded northern tip of Ibiza. It was built on a cliff right next to the beach, and you can jump right into the sea from the hotel. Food and drinks are superb too !!
Can Talaias is another great option. This is a warm and relaxed boutique hotel run by friends of the family, with stunning sea views and an authentic Ibiza vibe.
To play: boat trip to Formentera
One of the best things to do in Ibiza is take a boat trip to Formentera. It is one of my favorite places around the world. We used to spend about 4 months a year in Formentera when I was young, as my parents ran a hotel restaurant there. The sand is white, the sea is turquoise, it is total paradise. I recommend spending a night there if you can!
Having dinner: Macau coffee and La Paloma
Two of my favorites are Macao Café and La Paloma. Both are family run and both have amazing gardens with beautiful bougainvillea and a cool, creative clientele.
La Paloma is without a doubt one of the most beautiful restaurants in Ibiza.
Macao Café is run by a friend of my grandparents, Luca. Mentioning their name always gives me a table! The pizzas, pasta and grilled summer vegetables are all excellent.
To drink: Bamboudha
This is another place owned by a family friend, serving amazing Mediterranean-Asian fusion cuisine in an incredibly relaxing atmosphere. You always have to bump into someone amazing, it’s a great crowd.
To dance: Cova Santa Claus
I am from Ibiza so I feel like I was born in heels and I love to dance !! Cova Santa is a great party day or night, with amazing events and DJs like Chloe Caillet, laid back bohemian energy, and a hippie market where you can relax and hang out before the night begins.
Beach bars: Ashram at sunset
Sunset Ashram has one of the best sunset views on the island and there is always a great DJ, but he’s very popular, so get there early or book a table!
The Experimental Beach, Es Torrent and Es Xarcu are also great options, the latter being a very intimate and breezy vibe with divine fresh fish dishes.
To Chill: With the family in the northeast of Ibiza
For me, there is no better place to relax than at home in the northeast of Ibiza. My whole family is there, and we love spending lazy days by the pool, cooking big salads, puttanesca and gazpacho, and playing backgammon for hours and hours.
Shopping: Annie’s and Vicente Ganesh
My favorite place to shop is Ibiza Old Town, especially Annie’s, which is a great boutique run by a friend of mine. This is the perfect place to go if you arrive in Ibiza and find that you don’t have enough party dresses to go out dancing. Each piece is exclusive, as Annie collaborates with incredible brands to create a truly eclectic collection of vintage inspiration.
Vicente Ganesha is another must visit. This is such a lovely little store, full of pieces to build your beach wardrobe including sarongs, beach dresses, breezy shirts that have been beautifully crafted in gorgeous bohemian fabrics. Vicente’s Instagram is also worth following! He’s a huge character.
Favorite beach: Agua Blancas
I pretty much grew up on Agua Blancas beach so it always reminds me of my childhood. It’s the best place to dive in and out of the sea while relaxing with a book, and the chringuito serves THE BEST sandwiches in the world.
Beauty destination: Fig Beauty
I recently discovered the amazing Keely at Fig Beauty for nails, but she also does eyelash lifts, spray tans and brow treatments. Her work is totally flawless and she really knows how to make you feel amazing.
Culture: Ibiza Old Town
If you want an authentic Ibiza experience, take a stroll through Ibiza Old Town in the evening and enter and exit bars like Bar 1805 while admiring all the incredible heritage sites like the cathedral and the castle walls.
Secret place: Es Canaret
Rent an old Ibiza Bohemian charters fishing boat on Benirras beach and go on an excursion to Es Canaret. It’s totally serene, beautiful and super secluded as you can’t easily get there by car.
You can accommodate up to 8 people in the boats, and I highly recommend you take a picnic, a bottle of something special, and speakers, so you can have your own private party on the water. crystalline.
Most beautiful place: Es Vedra
Without a doubt, Es Vedra at sunset. It literally gives chills. Es Vedra is the magical island of Ibiza, and there are legends that it is one of the most magnetic points in the world.
