Mountain Statesman | Tygart Lake is getting ready for a summer of fun, the marina is officially open

TYGART LAKE—Warmer weather has residents and guests aiming for a season at Lake Tygart filled with sunshine, cool water and lots of laughter.

Tygart Lake Marina officially kicked off its season with an open day on Sunday, May 15, allowing boaters to bring their summer fun boats to the lake.

Boat dock tenants were asked to bring their speedboats, pontoons and various other forms of floating apparatus to moor them at the marina, however, gas, electric and water hookups were not available on opening day due to recent high water caused by rain.

According to officials, this equipment will be made available in the near future.

“We would like to thank all of our customers and dock customers for their patience at this time,” shared Danny and Deanna Williams, owners of Tygart Lake Marina. “See you at the lake!”

Tygart Lake Marina is currently taking reservations for 2022 pontoon rentals and Princess Cruise Boat private charters. Please visit www.tygartmarina.com for more information.

Do you want to enjoy a special day on the lake, enjoying the beauty of the region’s landscapes? Try the Princess of Tygart Lake Cruise.

The Princess will set sail for her historic Sunday cruises, which will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

During cruises, guests can enjoy a leisurely historic tour of Lake Tygart to hear stories about the eleven men who died building the dam, the five communities that are now underwater, the Indians who once inhabited the region, the role of the region during the civil war and various stories.

Tickets are $20 per person, and passengers five and under can sail for free. Tickets are non-refundable.

“Day cruises are welcome on a first-come, first-served basis, or you can pre-book tickets on our website under GET TICKETS,” the Princess crew shared.

Passengers are asked to prepare to board at Tygart Lake Marina at least 45 minutes prior to departure time as the boat is not waiting for anyone.

Unfortunately, Tygart Adventures was also scheduled to welcome residents last weekend, but due to rising lake levels, officials have decided that in the interest of everyone’s safety, they will postpone opening day. .

The new date for spending time on the waters of Lake Tygart is Friday, May 27.

“We believe this is the right judgment to make about the situation. We are reaching out to everyone who made reservations before the 27th to resolve these changes,” the Tygart Adventures team shared in a Facebook post. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and appreciate your understanding.”

Tygart Adventure Lake features 25 giant inflatables and a sandy beach with lounge chairs, the perfect place for family fun this summer.

After opening day, the Adventure Lake will be open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. until the lake season closes on September 6, 2021, so book your trip before it’s too late!
