Annapolis, MD (October 14, 2021) – Cruising World magazine has unveiled its list of nominees for the 2022 Boat of the Year awards. Testing for the awards takes place during and after the American Sail Show in Annapolis, Maryland, which begins today along the shores of Chesapeake Bay. Twenty-seven boats – 16 monohulls and 11 catamarans – have been nominated for the Boat of the Year 2022 awards.

The annual awards, selected by a team of independent judges, recognize the best new production cruise ships and multihulls fitted and equipped for coastal and offshore navigation and voyage. This year’s jury includes systems expert Ed Sherman of the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC); Tim Murphy, longtime sailing writer and ABYC scribe; and naval architect and boat designer Gerard Douglas.

“This is a deep and very diverse fleet, ranging from a 24-foot dayailer, the Tartan 245, to the Contest 67,” said Herb McCormick, Cruising World’s Boat of the Year manager. “After the absence of an Annapolis show last year due to COVID, it’s fantastic to see the downtown docks full of cruise ships again. With over two dozen applicants, we have had one of the most powerful BOTY fleets in years. We can’t wait to get out there and put them to the test.

The 2022 Boat of the Year awards will be announced in the January issue of Cruising World.
