Aramex and Dubai Offshore Sailing Club (“DOSC”) are pleased to announce the 30th edition of the Aramex Dubai to Muscat Offshore Sailing Race (“D2M”).

The annual race begins on Saturday February 4, 2023 and is officially open for registration. The Notice of Race and online entry forms are available on the event sites.

It’s been 30 years since the D2M first set sail and remains the longest and toughest sailing race in the region that requires strong and continuous commitment for up to five days. The race is unique and one of a kind as it attracts highly skilled local sailors and international competitors from all over the world.

More than 30 teams are expected with a mix of keelboats and multihulls from 27 to 100 feet long. Departing from DOSC on Jumeirah Beach, teams will sail across the Arabian Gulf to the deep waters of the Indian Ocean. They will then pass along the coast of the Musandam Peninsula and through the famous Strait of Hormuz. The final stage will take the teams on a southeastern route leading to Muscat, the capital of the Sultanate of Oman, before ending at Marina Bandar Al Rowdha.

Mike Rich, Marketing Director at Aramex, said: “As the title sponsor of this iconic sailing event, we are proud that the D2M Offshore Sailing Race continues to grow and attract more participants from a wide range of talented regional and international sailors. This race provides us with an exciting new way to further grow our well-established brand and be more creative with our ongoing initiatives. From the outset, Sailing focused on delivering speed, building great teams and leadership with values that have also helped Aramex to become the brand it is today. We are proud of our support for this ever-evolving sport that explores better solutions in demanding environments, which reflects our ongoing commitments to maintain reliable delivery performance under critical deadlines and under all circumstances.

Organized by DOSC and the United Arab Emirates Sailing & Rowing Federation (“UAE SARF”) in association with the Oman Maritime Sports Committee, the D2M Offshore Sailing Race is recognized by the Asian Sailing Federation (ASAF) and the Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC).

The D2M is a sporting event involving physical and mental challenges battling various wind and weather conditions for several days on the passage to Muscat, while experiencing spectacular scenery and navigating around other ships and obstacles. David Worrall, D2M Race Committee Leader and SARF Race Director, said: “Sailing is a sport that appeals to a wide variety of people with different ambitions, abilities and expectations. Sailors around the world already recognize the race. We hope to continue contributing to the UAE’s ambitious vision of developing a sports community capable of achieving global success in line with the proposed UAE Sports Sector Strategy 2032 and gaining recognition for Dubai and the UAE as a world-class sailing destination
