Upcoming Bismarck road construction that could ruin your day

Work on River Road will begin on Tuesday.

Road construction is part of life. Sometimes it’s just an irritating delay, but in the case of that first construction project, you could put a serious dent in your day. So like the boy scouts I’m here to help you be prepare. The unique aspect of almost all construction projects on River Road is that there really is no detour. By the time you see the cones, you’ve gone too far.

From 8:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 26, 2022

River Road between Keelboat Park/Riverboat Landing and Fraine Barracks Road will be closed to all traffic for the installation of the final pavement surface. The landing stage and boat launch will be accessible from the north. Pioneer Park will also be accessible from the north.

No detour route will be provided. This closure will be in place until the end of the day on Friday, July 29, 2022. Traffic is urged to seek alternate routes.

Hope this helps you avoid an aggravating incident next week on River Road. It’s one of my favorite ways to get around.

Here are two other projects that will also start soon in Bismarck

Now, these won’t ruin your day, but they might add extra time to your commute. Especially if you encounter them at peak times. This information is also provided by the city of Bismarck.

This starts at 7 a.m. Monday, July 25, 2022

26e The street from Main Avenue to Broadway Avenue will be closed to traffic. The closure will be in place for DMVW Railroad to carry out work on railroad tracks through 26e Street.

This closure will be in place until the end of the day on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, weather permitting.

Access to adjacent properties will be maintained. No diversion will be put in place.

This one starts 07:00 Tuesday, July 26, 2022,

Washington Street will be reduced to one northbound lane from 200 feet south of Broadway Avenue to 200 feet north of Broadway Avenue. The easternmost lane northbound on Washington Street will be closed to traffic. Access to businesses in the area will be maintained. Closure will be in place for concrete work within the closure area.

This lane closure will be in place until the end of the day on July 27, 2022, weather permitting.

Again, it’s not overwhelming, but it can take a bit of time, especially since it’s Washington Street. While we’re talking Washington, maybe someone could fill in that pothole on Rosser Avenue just east of Washington. It’s a real rim rocker.

Good luck there!
